January 2011 Update

Well we are already off and running into Feburuary of 2011. On December 30th we had the joy of receiving our new grandson into the world, Presley Gage Tallbut was born at 6:03 PM healthy . The whole family is doing fine. Our daughter Natalie is a natural mommy and didn’t miss a beat stepping into her new role.

It should go with saying we have been a little pre occupied with our new little guy. After all he needs us to hold him a lot and we are sure we can hear him calling for us clear accoss town!

On January 15th we joined the Chinnok Tribe for their annual winter gathering at the Plank House in Ridgefild. It was wonderful day of song, dance, honor aknowlegments and of coarse great food! There were tribal reprentatives from all over Washington and Oregon. What a joy to be able to witness the traditions of our Northwest tribes. There is no doubt they understand what is to love, honor and respect one another. It means a great deal to us to be included in these special gatherings.

Janurary 21 & 22 Jerry was invited to be a part of a mulitcultural worship team for Missions ConneXtion Northwest in Beaverton OR. It was an honor for Jerry to be a part of such a talented and deverse worship team. Each one having such a deep love for the Lord. On Saturday afternoon Jerry taught a workshop on culturaly relevent worship in ministering to tribal people. Jerry had prepared and prayed through about this presentation and once he began, the annointing of Holy Spirit came along side and we found our selves being minisitered to in the midst of the teaching. Ah…only the Lord can do such things. We have had good feed back and also had a couple of the next generation people show interest in joining us in future endeavors. Here is a letter from someone we met through Missions ConneXtion.

Hi Jerry and Leslie,
I hope you are having a good week. It was nice talking with you at Mission connexion. You did a great job with your workshop. We appreciated what you had to say.
Ray and I have been volunteering for Wiconi for about a year and a half. We met them at the 2009 Mission connexion conference.
We knew nothing about Native people before God called us three years ago. We had been reading Richard and also Randy’s books for a year before we met them. We believed God was speaking through them and accepted what they had to say, but the vision God gave me when you guys were drumming at Mission connexion 09 was definitely a confirmation for me.
Here is an excerpt of what I wrote in my journal at the time:

Jan. 09. Ray and I went to the Mission connexion conference in Beaverton the weekend of Jan 15th-17th.
During one of the main worship services, Jerry Chapman and his band led worship. God’s anointing fell on me intensely. Some of the music Jerry and the others participated in included the playing of a very large drum on the front left side of the stage.
While the musicians were singing and playing using the large drum, God gave me a vision. I was up above the clouds. The clouds were dark and stormy and swirling around. I saw what looked like a maelstrom appearing in the center of the clouds. The center of the maelstrom was full of fire and light like a crucible. I could sense that God was leaning over the crucible, looking into it. After a while, what looked like a large and intensely bright bar of gold emerged from the crucible.
The crucible was directly over the location of the large drum the musicians were playing.

Thanks so much for your music. You guys are a blessing.
Sue—and Ray Martell

On January 29 we had our annual Jerry Chapman Ministries board meeting. We are blessed with a ministry board that is rich in diversity and yet so united in the Lord. We are so thankful for these people the Lord had blessed us with. Following is a letter from our President Dave Bodine.

The Year of Increase

In 2008 Holy Spirit asked us, “Are you ready for increase?” and we saw incredible increase in 2009. God led increase continued and intensified in 2010. From the Chinook Winter Gathering at The Plank House in Ridgefield, WA to the “Connecting Cultures” in Tacoma, WA with a Korean worship group, Jerry and Leslie traveled and ministered in faithfulness and obedience.

Jerry saw fulfillment of the prophetic word that he would be stepping into a position of greater influence and exercising Godly authority. This translated into practical ministry not only to individuals but also people groups. Tsawwassen people will never be the same after their April visit. Kingdom Breeze, the first CD produced by Drumspeaker Publishing. A CD that extends Drumspeaker to the Nations in ways we will never be able to measure.

As I read through the 2010 Newsletters for Drumspeaker, the Lord reminded me of the great Banyon tree I saw last year in Hilo, Hawaii. It was so large that its branches reached an entire city block. As I listened I could hear the chirping and singing of many different birds perched in the branches. I believe this is the picture of what the Lord is creating Drumspeaker to the Nations to be. A place of shelter. A place to rest. A place of coming together. A planting of the Lord.

“In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” Rev. 22:2

Friday February 11: Jerry and Leslie joined with a group of intercessors from around the state of Washington declaring Washington’s new name as being Washington State of Christ. There was participation either in person or by phone by every county in the State! What an amazing time in history to be living in. We look forward with great anticipation to see what this prophetic act brings about. All 49 states will be contacted and asked to do the same with a culmination with all the states joining together to claim the United State of America of Jesus Christ on April 11, 2011.

February 12: Our Drumspeaker worship team gathered for practice and worshiping the Lord. As ever faithful the Lord met us in that time and greatly honored us with his presence. It was so nice to be together once again as we have been on a break since the holidays. We are all anxious to get out with the people in 2011.

February 13: Jerry and Leslie had the honor to be invited to the Cowlitz Tribe’s 11th anniversary of Tribal Recognition. The Cowlitz people are the most gracious of hosts, and some of the most open hearted people we have ever known. They truly know what it means and how to honor one another. Their vision for unity among other tribes and the community is commendable. We are guessing there were about 500 people in attendance for this day of celebration. Jerry had the opportunity to take the floor and speak on behalf our community pastors and churches letting the tribe know that we are still praying for the Cowlitz and long for them experience the fullness of the Lord’s blessing. Jerry’s special gift to the tribe was to be able to drum and sing a song that he received from Holy Spirit. He then gifted that song to the tribe to be their own. All in all it was a wonderful day. We are so happy we were able to experience it all.

Barn Update: Bit by bit we keep pushing ahead on the barn. We should be ready to start having some meeting times in the very near future. All the work is done by volunteers, so we depend on their schedules as well as on the amount of finances that are available for supplies.
Current projects for the worship loft include: finish ceiling fabric and installation of one more fan. Future projects for the loft are purchasing a sound system that can also be used on the road, and then small finishing projects. Outside we still need tractor work and rock for parking area (the field around the barn gets pretty muddy with all the rain). Water to the barn and of course the most essential toilet! If you would like to donate your time or whatever you have to help with these project please contact us. Obviously we would love to hear from you.

We thank each and every one of you who support us in prayer and with your finances. For these things we are truly grateful. If you have yet to find the time to pray for us or the means to financially support us we would respectfully ask you to consider doing so this 2011. It takes all of us to keep this ministry going.
We pray the Lords blessing over you and look forward to seeing you this year.
Jerry & Leslie
